I had been looking for a bench with storage that could sit in a mulched bed under my huge pine trees. I have been using a small wooden one extending it's life by sealing the feet that sat in the mulch but it was time for a newer, more sturdy one. I liked the idea of having storage built into the bench and preferred one I could leave outdoors year round (it will get covered in the winter). The Keter caught my eye as it checked off my wants in the bench. My order arrived exactly on time but there was a good sized hole in the box where obviously something had punctured it during shipping (I am so unimpressed with UPS). However when we opened the box only one piece was damaged that being the right arm/side part. I do not know if it got damaged during shipping or was boxed at the manufacturer that way. I called Overstock and they were wonderful! The Customer Service person took down the part info and told me to expect an email confirming the ordering of the replacement part including the delivery date for the part. Within 2 days, the replacement part was delivered to my home. Thank you, Overstock!
So this is where the fun began. We followed the instructions and all went very well except for the replacement part. It was the correct part as each piece of the bench is stamped with it's part number however there must have been a redesign as this replacement right arm did not have the same structural features as the original (and the left arm part).
(1) It started with the feet which slide into the bottom of the side part. They are supposed to click into place and the tab which clicks into place is the key to keeping the feet in place. The replacement part did not have slots for the tab on the feet to snap into. Hubby, being a lifetime modeler, cut slots for the feet to snap into. Problem solved... well, that one anyway.
(2) The front of the bench is supposed to click into the arms/sides to stabilize and give support to the bench. The left (original) side clicked perfectly and feels stable; the replacement side didn't click and was a bit unstable. Again, Hubby to the rescue. He added a brace inside to allow the replacement side to provide the stability it is supposed to provide. Our fear was leaving it as it was, if somebody leaned against the replacement arm or put pressure on it while trying to get up from the bench, the side would just give away and break.
(3) The top of the back slides into the top of each arm/side piece. A small third piece locks the back and side together and provides a smooth finish to back. This worked great on the original left arm but horribly on the replacement right arm/side. It appears that the hole where the back slides in is too small or out of alignment. Hubby had to cut a bit for the back to fit in. The wedge that should lock this in place is murder to get in and seems to want to pop out. Also there is almost a 1 inch hole above the wedge where water and perhaps small critters can get inside. This hole is not on the side where hubby cut but on the perpendicular side where the wedge fits in. I will be plugging up the hole with caulking to seat the wedge and plug the hole.
All of the problems we experienced were related to the replacement part. If the original right arm/side was not damaged, I am confident that we would not have experienced any problems and the bench would have been perfect. Now, having griped about this, I really like the bench. We both sat on it (close to 300 lbs) and it is very sturdy. Can't wait for our 2 year and 5 year old neighbors to visit and sit with us on it. We have not put it into it's final resting place outside yet but I know it will look great in our pine grotto. The dark brown color compliments our house and it's outside features. For all of it's problems, I am glad I bought it. I most certainly could not beat the price! Again, thank you, Overstock.
I am adding something to this review as our weather finally broke such that I could actually put the bench in it's final resting place. We had some fairly windy days (20 -25 mph wind) since we put it outside and twice it blew over. My bench is empty so I am sure if I put something heavy in it to weigh it down, it will be fine. Right now I have it in front of a tree so it can't blow over. If you live in a more windy place than central Ohio and only plan on storing lightweight cushions or pillows in it, you might have the same problem.
I purchased this bench to replace a bench that had wooden slats. The slats kept warping and decaying from exposure to weather so this all metal bench was my solution. I am using it principally for decor but it will hold a lightweight adult or kids with no problem. I would not recommend it as a full duty, functional bench. After assembling it with the provided tools be sure to use a real wrench and screwdriver to tighten them completely and that will sturdy the bench sufficiently. Overall, the bench looks great and serves the purpose I purchased it for just great.
The Wicker storage ottoman should really be called a trunk because of it's large size. The color and quality match the description. It functions well and the lid stays up nicely with the hydraulic arm. It appears well enough made that it should last a while. I bought it to put all the beach towels in so they'd be readily available by the pool. The only con is that it's not air tight. Water and bugs will get into the trunk so I bought a zip up hanging clothes protector at Walmart, lined the trunk with that and then put the towels inside the protector.
Wanted something low maintenance for outdoor (uncovered) use. I believe this will fit the bill nicely. Good - looking and sturdy. It was easy to put together. Description says "black" but in fact it is a brown - bronze color. Very pretty actually and I am not at all unhappy with it. I you truly want black, though, you might want to verify it with customer service so you know what you know what you are getting.
This bench is great; sturdy, beautiful and a great addition to my front porch. However, the instructions were horrible! The equipment they give you to screw in the items is a joke. Think 10X worse than ***** directions.
What a nice quality bench. Some features that I thought were great...there are 2 small channels for runoff, so that the rain won't pool on the seat or cover & everything gets soaked when it rains. HOLDS 771 pounds on the bench! That was impressive to me. Had reason to call customer service & guess what..a real person answered....answered my question & I was just amazed. How often does that happen these days? I've looked at many of these Patio Boxes in Target, Wamart, Home Depot, Lowes but this one was less expensive & better than any of the others. I love mine.
Love the glider, very well made, fairly easy to assemble, had a problem with holes not lining up on one side, contacted Overstock via chat, they solved my problem and shipped parts. Received parts last week, glider is assembled and I am very happy with it. It is just as described and we love it. Considering ordering the chair that matches it also in near future. Thank
I have three Renaissance benches in my garden including this piece. They hold up well in the elements, we leave them out all winter, and they always look great. The hand scraped wood is very classy, they are comfortable with or without bench cushions.
I bought the Acacia Bench for my front porch. The size of the bench was exactly what I needed and the black color matched my other porch furniture. The bench was very easy to put togther. It only took about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I've only had the bench about 4 weeks and I already see signs that the paint is cracking. I chose to place the bench where it is only partially covered by the porch, so it is exposed to the elements, both rain and sun. I was hoping the paint would hold up better since it has a "UV finish." I guess I will be painting it frequently. Other than the finish not lasting, I love the bench!
All good. The only thing I'd have to convey about how this product is that during the self-assembly process I noticed that some of the screw holes are a little too tight. I guess this gives the impression of a secure fit. But in real life I had to secure a monkey-wrench to the (supplied) Allen wrench (hex key), in order to get the screw all the way home. (I'm a very fit guy -- but still this proved to be an overly extreme workout!)
We got 2 to put along fence by fire pit. These are perfect. Sturdy & stylish. Comfortable for adults to sit on. Holds 3 adults or maybe 4 teens. Can sit down on an end and not topple over. Excellent design. Got the teak color matches cedar fence. Might get a 3rd in another color to go in the middle. Nothing like them in stores. Love them!
This arbor is exactly what I needed for seating against a wall in my rose garden. It came fast, in two days, with plenty of hardware. It was pretty easy to assemble by myself and I am a 30 something girl. You may need help positioning the top piece, unless you lay it on the ground. I encountered two rough spots, a bracket that was bend and a pole opening that was squeezed out of shape. Nothing that pliers and a little muscle couldn't take care of, I just positioned those spots to the back. It also has a beautiful black brushed finish that matches my high end table and chairs purchased for $4000.00. Can't beat it, buy it!
I think this is a very sturdy bench and should last for a very long time. I had a metal set that I wanted to replace with a bench and I've read that resin wicker is long lasting. I will tell you it was SUPER easy to put together and I did it quickly. The color was as pictured and exactly what I wanted. Very happy! I'm thinkng of buying a set of this for the backyard also, because it was rated very well also.
This bench is extremely nice. I assembled it by myself in a short period of time. I found the instructions to be not very detailed but the parts are self identifying. I did take off one star as the bench seat would not close completely. Perhaps in time the support shock will "loosen" a bit and this will self correct. It is close to closing completely maybe 1/4" or so. All in all I would say this is an excellent product!
Eventually I would like to order more of this item. It is simple to put together. The color of green/black is perfect. We needed something heavy, sturdy and strong because the wind blows hard and other items are blown away. But, the wind cannot move this bench! We love it.
I was looking for a quality bench that would withstand the elements for years outside in Illinois weather. My old one made partially of wood and iron rusted out and the wood just plain fell off it after only a few years.
This aluminum bench will not have those issues and will not only last years but decades! It has a beautiful high gloss brown / black metallic finish. The design to sit on is extremely comfortable for a metal bench as the seat and back molds itself to your body well.
I put this together alone and the instructions state a 2nd person is preferred. After I put it together and set it atop my back patio concrete it was not level & twisted with one leg almost 2 inches off the ground. This depressed me because I loved the bench and did not want to return it.
So what I did was then redo my work by loosening all the 8 bolts and then tilted it on one end. Then I carefully put my feet on the bottom while holding the top and slowly twisted it and right then it popped into place! I felt like a Chiropractor releasing much tension.
One should not have to do this, but I have discovered that 98% of anything you buy anywhere must be tweaked to one degree or another. I really wished I would have read this review before I received this item so I would of been less stress and known the "fix".
Then I re-tightened all the bolts and now it sits on my back patio adding comfortable extra elegant seating.
I would highly recommend this item despite the twist it needed thereby giving it an excellent in all categories except good in quality.
I put this bench together by myself. It wasn't difficult, just had to get a technique down! However, when it arrived it was splintered in the back (thankfully not in front). I didn't bother returning because I could hide it easily but it's very fragile, soft wood!
Good value for the money. It looks like it will hold out for years but I might be worried if the feet were in water for long periods. Mine are on a stone walk way, high and dry draining.
Bought a second.
We bought this bench to sit near our hot tub to hold clothes, towels, phones, whatever. Fantastic! And slippers or shoes fit nicely just tucked under the bench. Teak, of course, is always the best solution for outdoor furniture. Weathers so beautifully!
I wish I had read the details better to understand that it's not actually teak wood, it's teak "colored" wood.
The bench is very lightweight. That makes it easy to carry into the backyard as needed, but sometimes it creaks when I sit on it.
It was easy to assemble.
It is not weather-proofed. After a few weeks outside in winter/spring in Arizona, I got worried about weather damage, especially since it's not actually teak. I bought some paint and spray polyurethane so cover the bench. It was quite a pain in the ass but worth it in the end. I wish it came this way. Overall now I am happy with it. It is decorative in the front of our house.
I've had this for only a month, so I don't know how it weathers. But it arrived in great shape and was a quick assembly. It is the perfect size for the front patio. Smaller benches just look miniature on a wide patio. It's comfortable to sit in, and with a few outdoor pillows it doesn't need a seat cushion to look cute and stylish.

Overstock.com offers you a wide choice of outdoor benches from brands such as Safavieh and Christopher Knight Home in easy-care materials such as wood, resin, aluminum, and wicker.
Think About Placement
Will your bench be in the direct sunlight, in a shaded area, or exposed to the elements? The style of bench and materials you choose will all be dependent on these factors. Materials like metal will become too hot to sit on if utilized in direct sunlight, and certain varieties of wood or cushioning may be damaged in heavy rain or snow.
Consider materials when selecting your outdoor furniture, as different materials may be suited to specific climates. Certain plastics and resin hold up to a lot of moisture, making it ideal for humid or precipitation-heavy environments. Wrought iron and powder coated aluminum comes in a lot of classic colors and is very durable, suited to shaded areas and gardens. Wicker, rattan, and wood can easily transition from outdoor to indoors without absorbing too much heat, making these materials perfect for sun rooms, patios, and pool sides.
Decide If You Need Storage
Many outdoor benches come equipped with storage space that allows you to tuck away gardening tools, work boots, pool toys, and more. Consider what sorts of things you’ll need to store in your bench and pay attention to dimensions to get just the right storage bench to suit your needs.
Don't Forget About Comfort
Selecting a bench with a wicker seat usually means that some kind of cushion is required. Seats that can get too hot are helped along with weather-resistant fabric like Sunbrella that remains vibrant in color year after year, ensuring that your bench is attractive as well as cozy.
